Location safety guide

How GeoClick protects creators' location and good practices for sharing your journey safely.

Last updated: November 2, 2026

1. What we never do

  • We never store or show GPS coordinates of creators or visitors.
  • We never show home addresses or private accommodation.
  • We never publish a stop before the delay you chose — the filter runs on the server.

2. How location is stored

With assisted check-in, your browser converts your position into a low-resolution H3 geographic cell (about 250 km²) and discards the coordinate before sending. The server matches the cell to the nearest city. If you choose to show only region or country, we store an even larger cell. The cell never appears in the public interface.

3. Controls you have

  • Precision: city, city with places, region or country only.
  • Publishing delay: 24 hours by default, and it can be longer.
  • Places only after you leave the city.
  • One-click invisible mode and retroactive hiding of periods.
  • Blocking users and reporting suspicious profiles.

4. Public places

Places shown are public businesses (cafés, coworkings, landmarks…) using the business's own coordinates, never yours. Accommodation only appears after you leave the city.

5. Good practices

  • Avoid showing the front of, or the window view from, where you are staying in posts and videos.
  • Remember that photos and stories on other networks can reveal your real-time location, defeating the delay.
  • Review images before posting: we remove metadata, but not what is visible in the photo.
  • If you feel at risk, turn on invisible mode and contact us.

6. If something goes wrong

Report the profile or content on the site or write to privacy@geoclick.app. In immediate danger, contact local authorities. See also the Privacy Policy.
